More Information about the Award and Submitting an Entry - The Amber Fiddle Composition Award is for an original composition, performed on fiddle by the composer.
- Only one composition can be submitted by any one composer.
- Each composition should consist of one tune only, in one style only.
- Though there is no minimum length, the melody/composition must be no longer than 3 minutes.
- Each composition should be recorded on fiddle with no accompaniment and must be performed by the composer him/herself. Please do not give a spoken introduction as this could give away your identity. It should be submitted on disc, with the CD clearly marked with the composer's name and the tune title.
- Entries should be posted along with printed, completed and signed entry form to: Amber Fiddle Award, The Old Schoolhouse, Butterstone, Dunkeld, Perthshire, SCOTLAND, PH8 0H.
- Entries close on August 31st 2010.
- Six semi-finalists will be decided upon during a blind listen by a panel of judges.
- The six semi-finalists will be notified, then announced on the website www.nielgow.com shortly after the closing date.
- The six finalists will perform their own composition at the Fiddle Tree Concert in the Birnam Arts Centre, Perthshire on Wednesday November 3rd 2010 as part of a concert featuring Aly Bain, Ale Moller and Bruce Molsky.
- Three finalists will be chosen on that night.
- The three finalists will perform at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Perthshire on Friday 5th November 2010 as part of a concert featuring Dougie MacLean and Grada(IRL).
- The winner will be announced and the cash prize will be presented on the night.
- Inability to attend either the semi-final or final, if chosen, will result in your place being forfeited and substituted with another entrant.
- The names of the judges for the semi-final and final will be announced after the closing date.
- The judges' decision is final.
- There will be one winner.
- Entry to the Award is open to all ages and nationalities.
